Tammy Gillis is an award-winning actress and an indisputable powerhouse whose talent and determination has lead to over 60 roles across a variety of acclaimed film and television projects around the world. She won four BEST ACTRESS awards for her internationally acclaimed and stunning performance in the feature film MENORCA.
Growing up in rural Manitoba, Tammy showed an early interest in her craft and began acting in school plays. She was discovered by a modeling scout while attending the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg and was cast in a series of commercials for Greenkids. Her passion for performing reignited, she began taking theatre classes at the University of Winnipeg and shortly after found herself on the set of Canadian legend Guy Maddin in his inspired award-winning short film, HEART OF THE WORLD.
Since then, Tammy's acting career has continued to grow with great success. Next up, Tammy stars with James Tupper ("Big Little Lies") in season 3 of the hit CBC's true crime series "The Detectives" in a special two part episode "Project Houston" and "Project Prism". The show was recently nominated for a 2020 Canadian Screen Actors Award.
She is back as the determined Deputy Marissa Staub in Season 3 of "Siren", nominated in 2018 by the Teen Choice Awards for Choice TV Breakout Show. The season 3 premieres is set for April 2nd, 2020 on Freeform and ABC Spark Canada.
You can also catch Tammy in her recurring Guest Star role playing the bat-chete weilding Monica in Season 4 of Syfy's "Van Helsing" coming to Netflix in February 8, 2020.
She will soon be seen in the feature film "Torn - Dark Bullets" as Detective Omari, to be released on Apple TV and Amazon Prime.
A chameleon of a performer, Tammy's talent covers all genres, including drama, comedy, sci-fi, thrillers, romance and more. Her appearances include guest starring and recurring roles on "Motive", "Supernatural", "Girlfriend's Guide to Divorce", "Once Upon A Time", the award-winning HBO comedy series "Less Than Kind", "The Arrangement","Ghost Wars" and many more. She is a Hallmark Channel favourite appearing in leading roles in many of their movies including the fan favourites "Unleashing Mr. Darcy", and the sequel "Marrying Mr. Darcy".
Tammy has also been a dynamic and exciting presence on the big screen, celebrating her internationally acclaimed, multi-award winning performance in the indie feature film MENORCA. Tammy's portrayal of Claire, a hedonistic soccer mom that goes on a journey of self-discovery to win back her son has won her four BEST ACTRESS awards: The UBCP/ACTRA Award, the Black Sea Film Festival in Romania, the Noida International Film Festival in India and the Solaris Film Festival in Nice, France. In addition, Tammy earned a Leo Award nomination for "Best Lead Performance by a Female in a Motion Picture" for her staggering performance. This nomination is her second, as she was previously nominated for a Leo Award for "Best Guest Performance by a Female in a Dramatic Series" for her work on UPTV's "Ties That Bind".
Tammy has shone in additional feature film roles, including titles such as NO MEN BEYOND THIS POINT, WHITE NOISE 2, VIOLENTIA and A DOG'S WAY HOME.
Tammy also recently had her directorial debut for the web series "The Support Group", which she produced and acted in. The original comedy web series follows three unlikely friends, each facing their own challenges and coming together to save their beloved support group. She is currently in development as a producer on a number of projects.
Tammy brings her industry expertise and passion to her numerous projects and causes. She serves as a jury member for the Canadian Screen Awards and also volunteers as a mentor in the Women in Film and Television actor-mentorship program.
